POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH CONTRACT

The Job: This postdoctoral position will be funded by the Université de Paris through the granted MOPGA project. We target the electrocatalytic conversion of carbon dioxide into 2C+ high-value hydrocarbons and oxygenates. Our work encompasses coordination chemistry, electrocatalytic activity and product analysis, with in and ex situ methods for investigating structure-function relationships during electrocatalysis.

Tasks

  • Investigate electrochemical responses of the synthesized coordination complexes in combination with quantification of chemical products using analytical techniques (NMR, GC, HPLC, etc)

  • Perform advanced characterization to develop mechanistic understanding (e.g. in situ UV-vis, IR, spectroelectrochemistry, … and ex situ surface electrode analysis)

  • Cooperate with project team members on the development of the catalysts and their possible integration in solid state materials.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in chemistry, molecular electrochemistry, or a field closely related to the research topic (degree completion before June 2020)

  • Research experience in the following areas:

    • Required: electrochemistry and electrocatalysis

    • Additionally: Coordination chemistry, Analytical chemistry

  • Excellent English speaking and writing abilities

  • Proven track publication record in the electrochemistry and electrocatalysis field

  • Ability to work in a team as well as to independently lead a research project

Applicants should submit their CV with publications list, Master's transcript, proof of doctoral degree, contact information for two references, and a motivation letter (2 pg. max) detailing specific reasons for their interest and suitability for the position.

We offer: Fixed term contract for 12 months (with possibility of extension). The salary will be approximately 42.670€/year (brut).
